hostia z usa 1On Tuesday 3 May, 2016 Catholic University welcomed 30 participants from the U.S.A., who flew in Europe to take part in the 14-day cognitive training seminar  on the history and presence of the former “Soviet bloc“. After a 5-day learning about the modern history of Poland they arrived to Slovakia, but the journey continues through Hungary to Macedonia.


Participants come from different US states from Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west. They are bound by their enthusiasm for the modern history of Central and Eastern Europe and the efforts to become familiar with the changes that these countries underwent after the fall of the communist regime.

hostia z usa 2Prof. Frantisek Trstensky, Vice- Rector for International Relations, together with Mgr. Michaela Moldova Chovancova and Mgr. Miroslava Sekanova ( administrative workers of Department of Foreign Relations, mobility and formation of CU) welcomed this visit at our Catholic University. After a tour of the University Library, which was led by the head of University Library Mgr. Katarina Matuskova, Mgr. Michaela Moldova Chovancova presented the structure and aiming of CU.


hostia z usa 3The main part of the visit was a lecture named “The Catholic Church in Slovakia durring and after the fall of communism“ given by prof. Frantisek Trstensky. Prof. Trstensky described the individual periods in the history of the Catholic Church from 1948 to the present. After the lecture there was a discussion, where the guests from the U.S.A. were interested in topics such as ecumenical dialogue among Churches, the participation of the laypeople in the Church activities, the role of Church in society.
