univerzita janka kupaluBelarus is neither geographically nor culturally remote, still in Slovakia we do not know a lot about this nation. Thus, the representatives from the Catholic University in Ruzomberok – the dean of the Faculty of Arts and Letters Marek Babic and his vice-dean for research, arts and doctoral studies Eugen Zeleňák – visited Belarus to establish cooperation with the educational institutions in Belarus. Their visit was organized and supported by the honorary consul of the Republic of Belarus in Slovakia Marián Murin.

Over the four days they had a chance to learn more about the education system in Belarus, to meet with the representatives of the local administration, to visit several schools in Minsk region and in Grodno and to present our university to their colleagues in Belarus. For instance, in Slutsk they visited the oldest high school in the country and had a chance to learn about the high quality of education offered there. Later, they had a meeting with Gennadi Gachko, the vice-rector of the Yanka Kupala State University in Grodno, during which they discussed a possible future cooperation between the universities in Grodno and in Ruzomberok.
