RUŽOMBEROK (April, 26, 2012) - The Academic Senate (AS) of the Catholic University decided so in the secret ballot today, on April 26. 13 ou of 24 of the present senators voted for Zasępa, the second candidate, doc. Tomáš Jablonský, the present Dean of the Faculty of Education of CU, got 11 votes. In accordance with the Statute of CU also the Great Chancellor, Mons. Bernard Bober, Archbishop of Košice has to confirm the candidate. Afterwards the result of the election will be submitted to Minister of Education by the Senate and he will ask President of the Slovak Republic to appoint the new Rector of CU.
“I am glad that members of the Academic Senate of our University have expressed their reliance upon me. I appreciate that and will do my best not to dissapoint them. I also would like to thank you all members of the academic society for nominations and their support. I understand my function as a service and I am ready to serve further for development and improvement of the Catholic University“, addded Prof. Tadeusz Zasępa after elections. The term of office is four years. The University Senate consists of 24 members, representatives of all four University faculties.
