RUŽOMBEROK (December 4, 2008) – According to the Academic Ranking And Rating Agency (ARRA) Faculty of Arts and Letter (FF) of the Catholic University in Ružomberok (CU) is the second- best Faculty of Arts and Letters in Slovakia-this was published on Thursday, the 4th of December 2008 in the Annual Report 2008 – Evaluation of the Public Higher Education Institutions and Faculties.
The evaluation report measures the achieved results of the slovak higher education institutions in the year 2007. It focuses on examination of their results in some areas: proportion between teachers and students, interest for studies, published publications, and quotations with the reference to published scientific papers, number of postgradual students, and number of its graduates, proportion of the scientific grant resources from the domestic and foreign sources, etc.
Investigated areas determined total order of the university and its faculties in the categories as humanistics, socioscientific, natural, technical, medical, agroscientific universities and faculties. CU fits in the 10th. place among 14 evaluated socioscientific universities, among humanistics in the 8th. place (from 11 evaluated), among the medical in 7th. place from the seven evaluated.
In the category of humanistics in the spotted period FF CU stayed at 11th. place among 23 evaluated faculties, at the 2nd. place among the philosophical faculties. Totally it achieved 30,5 points, what is vis-a-vis average of the past years (2004, 2005, 2006) an improvement 10,5 points. The Faculty of Education of CU placed ARRA at the 27th. spot in the category of the faculties with the socioscientific survey, among the valuated pedagogical faculties it has the 6. place. In the category of medical faculties was valuated at the first time also our youngest faculty of CU, Faculty of Health Care which took the 9th. place with the average of 13,7 points (last year it was not evaluated). The Faculty of Theology has in its category 22nd. place with the 18,0 points. In the category of humanistic faculties among the theological faculties it took 7th. place in the row.
