Pilgrimage to Rome Starts PDF Print E-mail

Rome (May 17, 2010) – Representatives of the Catholic University and Angelo Bagnasco, President of the Italian Episcopal Conference negotiated about possibilities of further cooperation. At the official meeting particiapted Prof. Tadeusz Zasępa, Rector of the Catholic University; Prof. Peter Olekšák, Vice-rector for research and development; Mons. Alojz Tkáč, Great Chancellor of University; Mons. František Tondra, Bishop of Diocese of Spiš; Mons. Tomáš Galis, Bishop of Žilina diocese.

Cardinal Bagnasco was interested in the present state of the university, its present projects of development and the future. Prof. Tadeusz Zasępa informed him about the project of the new University Library, its construction and plans of the future development.

The pilgrimage of almost 200 teachers, employees, students and friends of the university that takes place from May 17 to May 21 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the university continues in The Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major. According to the program, prepared by the university and the travel agency, pilgrims will visit unique historical monuments of the Italian capital, e.g., Saint Peter‘s Square, The Papal Basilica of Saint Peter, Sistine Chapel, the Basilica of St. John Lateran in Rome, Holy Stairs, etc.

Pilgrims will meet Zenon Grocholewski, Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education. The central event of the pilgrimage is the audience by Pope Benedict XVI.
