RUŽOMBEROK (April, 26, 2012) - The Academic Senate (AS) of the Catholic University decided so in the secret ballot today, on April 26. 13 ou of 24 of the present senators voted for Zasępa, the second candidate, doc. Tomáš Jablonský, the present Dean of the Faculty of Education of CU, got 11 votes. In accordance with the Statute of CU also the Great Chancellor, Mons. Bernard Bober, Archbishop of Košice has to confirm the candidate. Afterwards the result of the election will be submitted to Minister of Education by the Senate and he will ask President of the Slovak Republic to appoint the new Rector of CU.

RUŽOMBEROK/BRATISLAVA (April 12, 2012) - Approximately 1.3 million euro have been invested in the first phase of construction of the new University library of the Catholic University in Ruzomberok, representing 15% of total planned expenses. The project had been in discussion from the year 2000, while the concrete plan was introduced in April 2008. “The idea has come out mainly from the need to provide our students and teachers with a modern library, thus responding to their requirements”, explained rector Tadeusz Zasepa, adding that “perspective development of the university and its faculties is not possible without a high-class library”.

RUŽOMBEROK/BRATISLAVA (February 1, 2012) - Catholic universities are "the prophets of our times", reminding the world of the "essence of Christianity, looking for truth and sharing it with others". With these words, the rector of Catholic university of Ruzomberok, Prof. Tadeusz Zasepa, turned to all people of good will, inviting them to celebrate 29 January 2012 as a Sunday of Catholic University in Slovakia. His letter, written on this occasion, was read during holy masses in all Catholic churches of the country, based on tradition established by a special decree of the Bishops'conference from 2009, with aim to support Catholic education and its role within Slovak society.

RUŽOMBEROK/BRATISLAVA (January 24, 2012) - “Our main mission is to form reason and heart of our students”, said the rector of Catholic University in Ruzomberok, Prof. Tadeusz Zasêpa, inviting all faithful in Slovakia to support the only Catholic university in the country with their prayers and financial contribution. The “Sunday of Catholic University” will be celebrated traditionally on the last Sunday of January, according to the decision of the Bishops’ Conference of Slovakia from 2009. Last year’s collection has been used for building the University library, due to be open in december 2012.

RUŽOMBEROK/BRATISLAVA (January 4, 2012) - 109 faculties of Slovak public and private universities and colleges were subject to ranking in regard to quantity and quality of provided education by the Academic ranking and rating agency (ARRA), with results published by the end of 2011. Work of Catholic University in Ruzomberok was evaluated in four groups with satisfying results. Faculty of Arts and Letters reached the 6th position among the faculties of philosophy. Faculty of Education is number 5, Faculty of Theology obtained the 4th position and Faculty of Health Care is number 10 among medical faculties in Slovakia. In addition to traditional elements like number of students and their educational results, ARRA introduced several new criteria of ranking in the area of education and research – data regarding foreign mobilities and graduate unemployment level, as well as criteria based on a relationship between number of graduants and overall quantity of publications and quotations.
