Slovak Americans to Support New University Library PDF Print E-mail

Ružomberok (June 29, 2010) – A significant gift from overseas will enrich the University Library of the Catholic University in Ružomberok. In the near future a library with archives of The Slovak Institute in Cleveland and chosen books and magazines by Jankola Library & Slovak Museum in Danville should extend the library. Andrew F. Hudak, Slovak Institute Director, and John Vianney Vranak, SS.C.M., Director of Jankola Library & Slovak Museum, confirmed the information after negotiation with Prof. Peter Olekšák, Vice-rector for Research and Development, and Doc. Róbert Lapko.

Talks of Rectors of University of the Holy Cross and CU PDF Print E-mail

Rome (May 20, 2010) – A wish of a tighter cooperation between the Catholic University in Ružomberok (CU) and Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome was claimed by the rectors, Prof. Tadeusz Zasępa a Prof. Luis Romera. Representatives of the partner university; Prof. Norberto González Gaitano, Vice President for Communications; Prof. Rafael Martínez, Dean of the Philosophical Faculty; Prof. Diego Contreras, Dean of School of Institutional Social Communications; Prof. Philip Goyret, Vice Dean of School of Theology together with rector Prof. Romera hosted the delegation of the Catholic University and fathers bishops Mons. Alojz Tkáč, Mons. František Tondra, Mons. Tomáš Galis during the pilgrimage of the University to Rome. About 200 teachers, employees, students and friends of the Catholic University participated from May 17 to May 21, 2010. The two universities have cooperated mostly in the area of media research and by means of guest lectures. The university visitation and common lunch  followed the audience at rector‘s office.

Pope Benedict XVI Receives Participants of Pilgrimage PDF Print E-mail

Rome (May 19, 2010) – Pope Benedict XVI received participants of the pilgrimage of the Catholic University in Rome- teachers, students and friends on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the university. The Holy Father spoke to pilgrims during the audience at Saint Peter’s Square in Rome: “ I warmly welcome the pilgrimage of the Catholic University from Ružomberok lead by the great Chancellor, Archbishop Alojz Tkáč. I am also greeting fathers bishops František Tondra, Tomáš Galis, representatives of University, students, employees and the Jubilus Choir. Brothers and sisters, we are celebrating the feast of Pentecost. Let us pray God for invocation of gifts of the Holy Spirit to be brave witnesses of Christ. I am blessing you from my whole heart.

Cardinal Tomko: Protect the Privilege of the Catholic University PDF Print E-mail

Rome (May 18, 2010) – Churchmanship of the Catholic University and its name open the door of 1,300 catholic universities all over the world. All people who create the university; teachers, students, employees should enrich and improve it by means of their efforts and quality every day. Cardinal Tomko also mentioned the need of  Christian confidence, especially in questions concerning life and an ability to use it in a dialogue with modern sciences, natural and human, as they raise new important questions.
