RUŽOMBEROK (October 14, 2009) - The Catholic University in Ružomberok awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Cause to Professor Michael Novak, a philosopher and politologist for merits in development and spreading of Christian ideals are of international importance and response. The title of Doctor Honoris Causa was conferred upon him during the Ceremonial Assembly of Academic Community and the encounter of the Scientific Board at the Rectors’ hall on the 14th of October 2009. Professor Tadeusz Zasępa, Rector of the CU, stated that Professor Novak belongs to recognized authority in the world with a strong bearing on Slovakia which his ancestors come from. “His deeds in favour of our country and university prove that.”

RUŽOMBEROK (September 30, 2009) - The Catholic University in Ružomberok awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Cause to Professor Július Paštéka and Archbishop Dominik Hrušovský on September 30, 2009. The ceremony took place on the occasion of the opening of the academic year 2009/2010 at the Catholic University together with the Assembly of the Academic Community and encounter of the Scientific Boards of the university and faculties.

RUŽOMBEROK (August 25, 2009) – The Complex Accreditation of higher education institutions differs from accreditation of particular study programmes. The aim of the complex accreditation is to review the relative performance of the institutions to identify its type in 24 spheres of research and fulfilling another criteria, as determined by rules of the Accreditation Commision as published at www.akredkom.sk. Spheres of research were evaluated according faculties. And the average of results of faculties is the evaluation for a university as the whole.

BRATISLAVA (May 18, 2009) – The target of the International Congress Family and Media, which was from the 5th – 7th of September 2008 at the Faculty of Arts and Letters (FF) of the Catholic University in Ružomberok (CU), was to stimulate an all-society discussion about the task of the family in the current society and about the media, their influence on the family as well as about how the media and journalists can contribute to the healthy family formation. There were 30 speakers from 16 countries of the world which had many suggestive lectures and discussion contributions at the Congress. The CU and the Foundation Family, Hope for Tomorrov presented the Anniversary Volume to journalists and the public in Bratislava with the title Family and Media which was published from all the lectures and contributions on Monday the 18th of May.

Bratislava (May 18, 2009). The importance of the family in the society is essential and it recquires our attention, according to the organizers of the world congress The Family and Media, which took place in September 2008 at the Catholic University in Ružomberok (CU). The morally and economically stable and functioning family shall contribute to fundamental recovery of the society after various economic social crises. The organizers presented the idea to journalists when presenting the anniversary volume of the Family and Media that contains the lectures and papers from 30 speakers from 16 countries of the congress in Ružomberok on Monday, 18th of May.
