At the fourteenth year of the prestigious White Heart event, the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives (SK SaPA) presented twenty-nine White Heart awards in three categories and an extraordinary White Heart in memoriam award. At the same time, the Chamber conferred a new award to Johanna Bórik-Hrebendová to nine nurses and midwives for their exceptional work in combating the pandemic in memoriam. The patronage of this event was taken over by the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová, who personally received the laureates of this award in the Presidential Palace on October 8, 2021. The ceremonial reception in the Presidential Palace was also attended by the Department of Nursing, FZ KU in Ružomberok, personally PhDr. Lukáš Kober, PhD., MPH University Teacher as one of the White Heart 2021 organizers

The Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives, also this year on the occasion of the International Nurses' Day, organized a nationwide ceremonial event "White Heart". At this event, we commemorate two important personalities of world and Slovak nursing. We commemorated the 201st anniversary of the birth of the modern nursing founder, Florence Nightingale, and the 209th anniversary of the birth of her Slovak predecessor Johanna Bórik-Hrebendová. The "White Heart" symbol was chosen and approved on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the International Council of Nurses in 1999. The shape of the heart is a manifestation of humane communication, help and at the same time a place where the quality of nursing care comes from. The white color of the heart symbolizes its bearers the interweaving of all the colors that the world knows, just as a nurses accepts all the people of the world without distinction.
