insta photoDuring the summer semester of 2018/2019, our Department of English Language and Literature opens a course on visual culture focusing on Instagram.

Students experienced in taking pictures or using Instagram habitually will be able to enhance their skills to utilize this social media platform. The instructor of the course, David Palatinus, designed a course that exploresthe ways in which Instagram has become a global visual cultural phenomenon in its own right, redefining ways of image production and consumption alike. By the end of the course, students will be able to identify the underlying debates about images and forms of visualization.

Students will also be able to articulate their own critical stances regarding the practices of ‘instagrammism’, influencer culture, and visual pleasure, where the production, distribution and consumption of images plays a crucial part. The course is in English and it is open to all students interested in creativity, photography and social media.
