    Abstract: The aim of this paper was to examine the opinions of students of pedagogical programs on the issue of applying the GBL (Game-Based Learning) strategy in teaching. The starting point was the necessity of online education during the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition from face-to-face to online learning. This change brought the search for strategies that would motivate and activate students to learn. One such strategy is the GBL strategy. With help of self-constructed questionnaire, the opinions of the students of the UMB Faulty of Education in Banská Bystrica on the use of digital games in teaching and their opinion on whether they would like to learn how to create such games were determined. The findings of this study contribute to the ongoing research, which points to the possibilities of professional training of students of pedagogical programs in accordance with the integration of digital games into teaching.
