General Information on the Study Programme
The standard duration of doctoral study in the full-time form is three or four academic years.
The standard duration of doctoral study in the part-time form is four or five academic years.
The number of credits required for the successful completion of the programme is 180 for a four-year part-time doctoral study programme, and 240 for a five-year programme.
Doctoral study is conducted according to an individual study plan under the supervision of a supervisor. Upon enrolment, the doctoral candidate receives information about the study programme, the required study units, credit requirements, and other relevant aspects of the study. The candidate fulfils obligations according to the individual study plan.
The supervisor awards credits for completed stages of literature review and research activities, as defined in the plan. For academic courses, the plan specifies the courses to be completed, dissertation examination subjects approved by the disciplinary committee, and mandatory or recommended literature for dissertation preparation. Deadlines for courses and the dissertation examination are also included.
For research activities, the plan outlines the stages of the candidate’s research work, deadlines, dissemination of results (e.g., publications, presentations), and participation in grant projects. For teaching activities, it may detail the candidate’s involvement in departmental teaching, including seminars or exercises they will lead and other related activities.
Upon the supervisor’s recommendation, the plan may include international stays, attendance at additional courses or lectures, beyond the standard study requirements.
