An applicant may submit:
EITHER an electronic application
- via e-prihlaska.ku.sk;
- such an electronic application is not printed, signed, or sent by post to the faculty address.
OR a paper (non-electronic) application
- such a paper application, usually on the ŠEVT form, is sent to the following address:

- Proof of payment of the application fee.
- Structured curriculum vitae of the applicant (including an overview of research activities, if applicable).
- List of published academic and scientific works (if applicable).
In addition, applicants must submit the following documents depending on the chosen PhD programme:
History
- Dissertation project (topic outline) of 6–10 standard pages, including research objectives, structure of the dissertation, list of sources and literature, justification of research relevance, theoretical and methodological framework, research design, and expected practical contributions.
- List of relevant literature studied by the applicant on the chosen topic, 3–4 standard pages (not necessarily identical with the literature list from the dissertation project), which the applicant must be able to discuss with the examination committee.
Psychology
- Research proposal for the selected dissertation topic, 6–8 standard pages in IMRaD structure (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion).
Systematic Philosophy
- Dissertation project (including topic outline, planned objectives, and dissertation structure), maximum 1,000 words.
- Master’s thesis or a link to its publicly accessible version in the Central Register of Theses and Dissertations.
- List of at least 10 texts (books, studies, articles) related to the chosen dissertation topic, which the applicant has studied.
Theory and History of Journalism
- Dissertation project (topic outline) of 6–8 standard pages, including research objectives, structure, suggested literature, current state of research, applicant’s expected contribution, and methodological framework.
- List of at least 10 texts (books, studies, articles) related to the chosen dissertation topic, which the applicant has studied.
- Samples of publications: these may include academic work (e.g., seminar paper, part of a final thesis), scientific work (e.g., study), or journalistic work.
