We offer three doctoral (PhD) programmes: History (full-time and part-time study), Journalism (full-time study) and Philosophy (full-time and part-time study). Doctoral programmes are organized in a more flexible way. Supervisors of doctoral candidates assign individual study programmes to their students, and after consultations decide upon the topics of dissertations. Doctoral students are required, besides taking certain courses, to pursue research, attend conferences and publish their findings. We encourage international students to apply for doctoral studies at our faculty.

Admission Requirements

• a completed graduate (MA) education in the same or a similar study programme
• an acceptance of the Catholic nature of the university and the faculty
• an entrance exam consisting of an oral interview including a presentation of and discussion on the dissertation project
• in their application forms, applicants must choose the form of their studies (full-time or part-time) and indicate a topic for their dissertation work (to discuss the options, please, write an email to admissions.ff@ku.sk)

Applicants must submit:

• an application form (printed or online application form)
• a curriculum vitae
• a verified copy of an MA diploma (a document of their graduate education); foreign students are required to submit a copy of a recognition of foreign education
• a list of the applicant’s publications or other outcomes of research
• a dissertation proposal and supporting documents (please, write to admissions.ff@ku.sk further details)
• a receipt of payment of the application fee
