We offer four doctoral (PhD) programmes: History (full-time and part-time study), Journalism (full-time study), and Systematic Philosophy (full-time and part-time study), all delivered in Slovak. In addition, we offer one doctoral (PhD) programme delivered in English: Systematic Philosophy (part-time study).

Doctoral programmes are organised in a flexible manner. Each doctoral candidate follows an individual study plan under the guidance of a supervisor, who, in consultation with the student, determines the topic of the dissertation. In addition to completing required courses, doctoral students are expected to conduct research, participate in conferences, and publish the results of their work.

We encourage international applicants to apply for doctoral studies at our faculty.

Admission Requirements

• a completed graduate (MA) education in the same or a similar study programme
• a commitment to respect the Catholic ethos of the University and the Faculty
• an entrance exam consisting of an oral interview including a presentation of and discussion on the dissertation project
• in their application forms, applicants must choose the form of their studies (full-time or part-time) and indicate a topic for their dissertation work (to discuss the options, please, write an email to admissions.ff@ku.sk)

An applicant may submit:

• EITHER an electronic application
  - via e-prihlaska.ku.sk;
  - such an electronic application is not printed, not signed, and not sent by post to the Faculty.
• OR a paper (non-electronic) application
  - Such a paper (i.e. non-electronic) application, most commonly submitted on the ŠEVT form, shall be sent to the following address:
