Undergraduate (BA) Admissions
We offer one single-major study programme (taught mainly) in English English and American Studies and a teacher-training programme Teaching of English Language and Literature, which is taught mainly in English. Additionally, it is possible to combine English and American Studies with any other field on offer (see the complete list of our BA programmes) but the other part of the programme is taught in Slovak.

Admission Requirements
1) Study programmes of History, Philosophy, all double-major and teacher training programmes (except Teaching of English Language and Literature):
- completion of full secondary education or full secondary vocational education
- a commitment to respect the Catholic ethos of the University and the Faculty
- applicants for the study programme Teaching of Slovak Language and Literature who obtained their secondary education outside the Slovak Republic are required to provide proof of proficiency in the Slovak language at a minimum level of B2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
2) Study programmes of Journalism, English and American Studies, teacher training programme (English Language and Literature):
- completion of full secondary education or full secondary vocational education
- a commitment to respect the Catholic ethos of the University and the Faculty
- exams: Journalism (an oral interview, applicants should also submit 2 examples of their, preferably, journalistic work); English and American Studies (an oral interview about the culture and history of anglophone countries); teacher training programme in English Language and Literature (an oral interview after about the culture and history of anglophone countries).
Applicants must submit:
- an application form (printed or online application form)
- an official translation of the school-leaving (maturita) certificate (for applicants who completed secondary education outside the Slovak Republic)
- for applicants who completed secondary education outside the Slovak Republic, also a decision recognizing the foreign secondary education certificate for the purpose of study in the Slovak Republic, or a valid recognition note of the foreign education level issued by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic (https://uznavanie.minedu.sk/)
- a receipt of payment of the application fee
All the documents (if an applicant makes use of an online application form, it must still be printed, signed and delivered by mail) must be delivered by mail to:

Preparatory - Slovak Language Programs
The Faculty of Arts and Letters of the Catholic University does not offer a preparatory year or any preparatory courses in the Slovak language for international applicants. Prospective students are expected to meet the Slovak language and academic requirements independently before applying.
