The Faculty of Arts and Letters is a part of the Catholic University in Ruzomberok and its purpose is to pursue excellence in teaching, research and scholarship in order to advance learning and knowledge and to enable students to obtain the maximum benefits of a university education. The Faculty adheres to the traditions of Catholic universities all over the world, and cooperates with other institutions of higher education in Slovakia and abroad.

    At the same time, it makes an effort to enrich the content and orientation of its teaching and scholarship with the distinctive Catholic spirit. Its scholars try to uncover and mediate the truth in all spheres of human experience and knowledge for the benefit of society as a whole.

    The objectives and tasks of the school are in accordance with the University Statute, in the spirit of John Paul II’s apostolic constitution of Ex corde ecclesiae.

    The Faculty of Arts and Letters of the Catholic University in Ruzomberok was established by the Bishop’s Conference of Slovakia (the protocol No. 103/99 of May 17th, 1999) and by the Law of the National Council of the Slovak Republic No. 167/2000 of the Code of May 10th, 2000 concerning the Catholic University in Ruzomberok.
