The Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts and Letters, Catholic University in Ruzomberok is a respected institution offering degree programmes in psychology. Students may choose a single major study programme in psychology both at the bachelor (BA) and master (MA) level. Education for psychology students consists of a theoretical as well as practical dimension and the emphasis is on an inevitable process of self-experience. Students have a number of classes in the first-rate psychology laboratory, one of a kind in Slovakia, where they make use of the modern technical gadgets, psycho-diagnostic instruments and experimental methods. The education process is founded on an individual approach and on the idea that psychology is the most appealing way of getting to know a human being. The research of the faculty members revolves around various research topics. Currently, the research focuses on diverse issues from such areas as psycho-diagnostic of the IQ, narrative psychology, psycho-semiotic approach in psychology, psychology of the internet and media, positive psychology, psychology of decision and psychology of humour.
