    Exploring Modernist Literature in Ruzomberok

Over the last three months, we had the opportunity to host Professor Irakli Tskhvediani from the Akaki Tsereteli State University in Kutaisi, Georgia during his research stay in Ruzomberok. His project “Urban Geometries of Modernism: Fictionalizing the City in English and American Modernist Novel” was supported by the National Scholarship Program of the Slovak Republic and this allowed him to explore modernist literature at our Faculty of Arts and Letters. This was his second visit at our faculty and in both cases, he worked on his forthcoming book Modernist Mythopoeia: The Uses of Myth in English and American Modernist Literature.

Thanks to the visit of Professor Tskhvediani, we established a cooperation with one of the biggest and most renowned Georgian universities – Akaki Tsereteli State University. As a result of our cooperation, we will have a chance to host students from his university during their Erasmus mobility in the next semester.

Each year, our faculty issues several invitation letters for international researchers, who are interested in carrying out their research at our faculty. Mainly thanks to the generous support of the National Scholarship Program of the Slovak Republic we regularly host interesting scholars. This year, after the departure of a literary scholar Irakli Tskhvediani, we will be hosting a Georgian historian Irma Talakhadze.
