The Committee for Science, Education and Culture of the The Conference of Bishops of Slovakia decided to present Fides et ratio award to Peter Volek, who is a chair of the Department of Philosophy at our Faculty of Arts and Letters. The award ceremony took place on September 16, 2021 in the Primate’s Palace in Bratislava and the award was presented to him by two bishops – Frantisek Rabek and Jozef Halko.

The annual Fides et ratio prize is presented to important figures from the areas of research and education. Peter Volek was selected for his effort to foster dialog between faith and science, for his significant research and international recognition, for his work in the field of Christian philosophy, for his international impact in the study of the work of Edith Stein, for his determined defense of Catholic bioethical principles in the scholarly community and for his work in various academic institutions.

We are very happy to have such a respected scholar at our faculty and we would like to congratulate him for this acknowledgement of his work.
