Our Faculty Receives Positive Feedback from Students

At our faculty, there is a long tradition of anonymous evaluation of the education process at the end of each semester. The results from the summer semester 2020/2021 show that are students are satisfied with the quality of education they receive and with the work of our professors. At the end of the last summer semester students submitted 603 evaluation forms in which they commented on 118 courses (from 173 courses offered at our faculty). Large majority (93 %) of our students consider gained knowledge to be theoretically and practically useful and they (97 %) think that the feedback they receive from professors is fair. It is very positive that most of our students (95 %) think highly of their professors when it comes to their professionality and they also appreciate communication between professors and students.

Another type of regular survey is carried out among our graduates. At the end of the academic year 2020/2021 we received feedback from over 51 of our graduates. Results are again very encouraging. 49 graduates confirmed (strongly agree – 40 or agree – 9) they would recommend our faculty to other students and 49 graduates were satisfied with their studies at our faculty (very satisfied – 32 or rather satisfied – 17). Participants in this survey were satisfied mainly with an individual approach and family-like atmosphere at the faculty but they also positively assessed professionality of our professors. On the other hand, several students suggested the faculty should pay closer attention to providing students with better information.

Finally, in 2021 the main accreditation body in Slovakia, the Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education, presented the results of a unique and so far the largest survey about how students in Slovakia perceive the quality of higher education institutions. This survey called “Academic Quarter of an Hour” provided several interesting findings about the quality of higher education in Slovakia. (Results are available here: https://prieskum.saavs.sk/vysledky/)

It is very encouraging that our faculty received very positive feedback and in most of the important aspects it has better results when compared to average results of the Slovak universities. For instance:

    - 91 % of our students would recommend their study program to their friends (whereas 82 % of students would do the same from all the Slovak universities),

    - 78 % of our students think they are a part of a community (whereas 67 % students think the same from all the Slovak universities),

    - the index of professors with a positive approach towards students is 85 at our faculty (whereas it is only 75 when it comes to all the Slovak universities).

These are extremely reassuring results, especially because this is the largest survey so far carried out by an independent external institution.

We would like to thank our students and graduates for their feedback and we would like to express our willingness to improve our work in the future.
