    Philosophical Olympiad Announces the Winners

    The Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Arts and Letters, Catholic University in Ružomberok announced the winners of the qualifying round of the Philosophical Olympiad. Marína Rembovská (1st place) and Miroslava Baricová (2nd place) have qualified for the international competition. Both students study at the Grammar School of Jur Hronec in Bratislava. The International Philosophical Olympiad will be held this year on May 16-19 in Helsinki.

    Traditionally, the Philosophical Olympiad has been held in two rounds. In the first one, in which 169 high school students participated, they wrote argumentation essays in the Slovak language. The winners of the Slovak round were Miroslava Baricová (GJH, Bratislava) in first place, Michal Drábek (GJH, Bratislava) in second place and Tomáš Semanič (Gymnázium Poštová 9, Košice) in third place. Twenty students proceeded to the second - qualifying round, in which the argumentation essays were written in English.
