The Department of Physical Education and Sports, under the auspices of prof. PaedDr. E. Bendíková, PhD., assoc. prof. R. Rozim, PhD., and the Dean of the Faculty of Education at the Catholic University in Ružomberok (Slovakia), PaedDr. P. Krška, PhD., (univer. assoc. prof.), joined forces again this year to support "WORLD LEISURE DAY 2026."
The event took place on April 16, 2026, across several locations in Slovakia, thanks to the outstanding support and cooperation of colleagues from pedagogical practice: PaedDr. Andrej Glončák (Deputy Principal, Okoličné Primary School and Kindergarten, Liptovský Mikuláš), Mgr. Mária Filipková and Mgr. Zina Vondráková (Okoličné Primary School and Kindergarten, Liptovský Mikuláš), Mgr. Ľubica Berkyová and Mgr. Alexandra Kovalčíková (Teachers, J. Bakoša Primary School, Banská Bystrica), PaedDr. Mojmír Šrobár (Principal, Kľačno Primary School, Ružomberok) and other fellow teachers and 2nd-year students of the Physical Education teaching program. As part of their undergraduate training (KEGA 014KU-4/2025), second-year Bachelor’s students actively prepared an engaging movement workshops within the "Active School" and "Leisure Time" (VEGA 1/0301/25) frameworks for primary school pupils. Leisure time and how you spend it is very important in terms of staying in good shape, fitness and health. Andrea Paulinyová took the lead for the student organizing committee. Together with her classmates and future PE teachers, they managed the event excellently, demonstrating high levels of professionalism, expertise, and overall preparedness. Simultaneously, practitioners from the field shared their valuable experience and insights with the aspiring teachers. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all stakeholders and colleagues from practice for their willingness, time, support, and professional approach.
Furthermore, we wish to express our gratitude to our international partner, Professor Ricardo R. Uvinha from the University of São Paulo, Brazil (School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities).
Thanks for the support also go to Dr. Cristina Ortega Nuere, Chief Executive Officer of World Leisure Organization.
The high quality of the event and its core mission is reflected in the significant interest shown by university students, future physical education teachers, practitioners, school management, and the participating children themselves, all of whom are already looking forward to the next edition of WLDay 2027.
