In September 2026, the Department of Biology and Ecology at the Faculty of Education, Catholic University in Ružomberok, in cooperation with the Department for Foreign Relations and Internationalisation, will host an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) focused on outdoor environmental education.
University students from Croatia, Bulgaria, and Lithuania will participate in a physical mobility from 21 to 25 September 2026, exploring the Lower Liptov region through field-based activities. „By learning directly in nature, participants will gain practical experience in environmental sustainability, land-use issues, and effective ways of communicating environmental topics to schools and the wider public," says Michal Baláž, Head of the Department of Biology and Ecology.
The programme combines international collaboration with hands-on learning, highlighting the importance of outdoor education in addressing contemporary environmental challenges. An online preparatory session will take place on 11 September 2026.
According to Michaela Moldová Chovancová, Erasmus+ Institutional Coordinator at Catholic University in Ružomberok, "Blended Intensive Programmes provide an excellent opportunity for students to combine international cooperation with innovative forms of learning. They also encourage the exchange of ideas and good practices in environmental education and sustainability."
Through this initiative, Catholic University in Ružomberok continues to promote innovative learning experiences that connect education, nature, and sustainability.
