The Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), entitled Czech School of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, brought together six faculty members and 39 students from partner universities in Sofia and Madrid, as well as from Belgium, Finland, Slovakia, Poland, and Iceland. The Faculty of Health Sciences of the Catholic University in Ružomberok was represented by Mgr. Ivana Aštaryová, PhD., together with third-year bachelor’s students of the Physiotherapy programme: Šimon Pelach, Peter Sivčák, and Jakub Uhliar.

At the beginning of the BIP, the students were asked to introduce their countries and universities through presentations. They were then divided into six international groups, in which they worked throughout the week on clinical cases involving individual patients with various diagnoses and different social and life circumstances.

During the week, the students gradually expanded and applied the knowledge gained from the individual components of the intensive programme, while also drawing on their previous experience and studies at their home universities. Particular emphasis was placed on an important and highly relevant question: How can artificial intelligence be meaningfully integrated into clinical reasoning? The students applied the knowledge gained from lectures and workshops to their group work, the outcomes of which they presented in their final presentations.

Mgr. Ivana Aštaryová, PhD. also contributed to the programme by delivering a lecture and workshop on the Slovak physiotherapy method Autoreflex Prenatal and Postnatal Therapeutic Positions (APPP).

The programme also included a visit to Klimkovice Sanatorium, where participants had the opportunity to observe comprehensive rehabilitation care incorporating robotic technologies for both paediatric and adult patients. For the international faculty members, the university, in cooperation with University Hospital Olomouc, organised a visit focusing on intensive care, the hospital heliport, and its modern pneumatic tube system. The faculty members also had the opportunity to exchange and compare their clinical experience with Czech healthcare professionals.

Participation in the programme provided the representatives of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Catholic University in Ružomberok with new knowledge, valuable professional experience, and opportunities for further cooperation with partner universities, particularly in strengthening the connection between academic education and clinical practice.
