The effort to protect the environment of KU was recognized by a foreign evaluation

Since 2010, the University of Indonesia has compiled a ranking of universities with the most effective approach to environmental protection. Through the GreenMetric World University Ranking, evaluators examine universities' approach to infrastructure, energy in relation to climate change, waste, water, transport and education and research. Based on the key indicators in each category, a list of universities is created which, according to this methodology, behave the most environmentally friendly.

In 2024, four universities from Slovakia were involved in the evaluation. In addition to the Catholic University in Ružomberok, there were the Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra, the Technical University in Košice and the University of Žilina in Žilina.

The best rated Slovak university was the Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra, which was ranked 148th. The second best Slovak university was the Catholic University in Ružomberok, which finished in 1078th place in the overall ranking, but at the same time overtook the remaining Slovak universities. In individual categories, it succeeded mainly in energy in relation to the climate crisis and in waste. The Catholic University in Ružomberok does not hide its active approach to environmental protection. The proof is mainly the active membership of KU in various environmental initiatives and also the effort to develop the environmental policy Green University 2025-2030, which several members of the university are currently working on.
