Robert Nanovic has been awarded an honorary doctorate at the proposal of the Faculty of Arts and Letters

    The Catholic University in Ružomberok awarded the honorary degree of Doctor honoris causa Robert Nanovic , the founding benefactor and member of the Advisory Board of the Nanovic Institute for European Studies at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana, USA).

    The honorary doctorate was awarded to Robert Nanovic on the basis of the proposal of the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the CU, with the consent of the Great Chancellor of CU Mons. Bernard Bober , and after the approval of the Scientific Board of the CU (of which the rector of the CU Jaroslav Demko is the chairman).

    The awarding ceremony took place on October 19, 2023 in the hall of St. John Paul II. This solemn event constituted also the ceremonial opening of the CUP conference (Catholic Universities Partnership), the theme of which is Distinguished Personalities from Catholic Universities and their Stories, and which is attended by several distinguished guests from various Catholic universities in Central and Eastern Europe.

    At the academic ceremony, the life and work of Robert Nanovic was presented by Samuel Štefan Mahút , dean of the Faculty of Arts and Letters at the CU. The award for Robert Nanovic (who was unable to be present at the ceremony for serious reasons) was accepted by A. James McAdams , the long-time director of the Nanovic Institute and the founder of the Catholic Universities Partnership. James McAdams briefly addressed the attendees, expressing his gratitude for the more than 30 years of work that Robert Nanovic has made possible.
