Invited Lecture of a Ukrainian Philosopher
Oksana Panko from our partner Lviv Polytechnic National University in Lviv, Ukraine gave a talk on Faith and Reason in the Search for Meaning and Resilience in the War Time: Various Directions. In her lecture, she discussed several issues related to representation of war and plurality of war-related aspects. She started with a Heraclitus observation that war is the father of everything to continue with both more general points and concrete examples from the current Russian war in Ukraine. She mentioned both cases of cruelty, brutal torture, kidnappings as well as ecological aspects ranging from extreme pollution to killings of dolphins in relation to this war. At the end of her talk she focused on the link between war and church especially when it comes to concrete claims of church leaders but she mentioned also the importance of prayer for soldiers.
Her talk took place within the framework of our VEGA project on plurality and relativism during her week-long stay at our Department of Philosophy of the Catholic University in Ruzomberok.
