Abstract: The twentieth century brought many changes and new challenges to both the world and the Church. Since the agents or creators of historical changes and meanings are always concrete people, it is our duty to return to their moral and spiritual legacies. Every sensible person is enriched in learning about history by examining his or her own thinking and actions, and of the exemplary actions and exemplary people of our past. They represent permanent moral and spiritual values. Among the persons who in their ministry as spiritual shepherds lived at the same time and had a similar outlook on dealing with the areas that the then situation brought them include - Pope Pius XII, whose pontificate wound its way through the difficult post-war years of 1939-1958, and Bishop Eduard Nécsey, the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Nitra since 1948.
Their similarity can be seen especially in their zealous service, in their quiet sacrifice, in their efforts for peace, social welfare and the protection of the persecuted. In both of them, one can see the search for the path of reconciliation through the diplomacy of "silence", which superficial observers may consider to be a sign of fear or even cowardice.
