Abstract: The public debate on refugee policy in Germany has led to broad support for a restrictive migration policy. In particular, the political argument that Germany is overwhelmed by the influx of refugees and that their integration is failing is widespread. This article examines the role of adult education as an integral part of integration efforts for refugees. It shows that numerous institutions, in particular adult education centers and various educational institutions, provide comprehensive educational opportunities for refugees. A special focus is placed on the state integration course structure and job-related German language support, which create decisive prerequisites for economic participation and social integration. In addition to an inventory of the various education providers, successful examples of refugees who have found access to the labor market through these educational opportunities are also presented. It also analyzes the political framework conditions and support measures, including the 3+2 regulation and introductory training, which are intended to help refugees gain a foothold in Germany. Finally, the effectiveness of the training measures is discussed, highlighting both challenges and success stories.
