Abstrakt/ Abstract: Sacral architecture, although it is intended for religious worship and for the glorification of God, is subject not only to the action of time (like everything material, the permanence of which is limited), but also to various conscious interventions in its material essence and expression. The paper deals with various interventions in the older substance from the end of the 20th century to the present. It presents a summary classification from the point of view of mass-volume and typological-morphological aspects. It illustrates the ways of intervention such as mass increases by completions and also includes the implementation of a new building on the defunct site of an older building or near an existing one. The article is not a passportisation of interventions in a specific regional area. It wants to capture the topic theoretically with the help of selected examples that have an informational, not cataloguing, character. The article will later continue by reflection of extensions and conversions. Intervention in the older substance is still a topical task of the architect, from modifications of liturgical interiors to mass additions.
