Abstract: In this essay the author presents a view of memory and remembering from a philosophical point of view. Drawing on the memories of full-time and combined students and from the perspective of philosophical theories, the essay tries to show that the positive view of the sense of subjective well-being that is usually associated with the first temporal dimension in a person's life may not (and usually does not) correspond to reality. A beautiful and happy childhood is an illusion - but an illusion that is necessary for life.
