    Abstrakt/ Abstract: The Institute of the Brothers of Christian Schools (FSC) was founded in France in the 17th century by the nobleman Jean-Baptiste de La Salle. It has gained an excellent reputation over the decades of its operation in Europe and beyond. The Institute came to Slovakia in 1899 (Urmín). In the study, the author deals with their activities, influence, and their significant work at the Teachers' College in Spišská Kapitula (Spišské Podhradie today) specifically during the years of 1924 – 1949, and their influence in the cultural development of Slovakia and its national awakening and educational rising. The study deals with the activities of four significant school brothers who wereprofessors at the Teachers' College and their difficult lives as well.
