Abstrakt/ Abstract: The main objective of this study is to evaluate the protection of intellectual property in start-ups in Slovakia and to formulate relevant recommendations for economic practice. To fulfil the main objective, partial objectives are to investigate the awareness of intellectual property protection and the use of various forms of IP protection by start-ups in Slovakia, to identify problems in the protection of intellectual property and to evaluate the measures supporting its protection as a prerequisite for successful penetration of foreign markets, to formulate recommendations for improving this support, as well as recommendations for start-ups in the field of intellectual property protection. The methods used include structured interviews as a qualitative research method, analysis, synthesis, and comparison. The contribution of the paper is the proposal of measures and recommendations that can improve the protectio of intellectual property by start-ups.
