    Abstrakt/ Abstract: In the history of mathematics, it is possible to find many extraordinary ideas, based on which new discoveries are currently being made. A great example is quantile regression. Currently quantile regression is often used in various fields of research in situations where it is necessary to use regression analysis and at the same time the prerequisites for using the least squares method are not met. In addition, quantile regression provides information that cannot be obtained directly from standard regression methods. The entire conditional distribution can be modelled in it, for example when it is applied in the performance evaluation of the examined pupils. In specific applications, it provides answers to important questions about modelling the tails of the conditional distribution. The article shows the advantages of its use in various areas of research and, on its own examples of application to pedagogical data, indicates the possibility of its use on data from the field of mathematics didactics.
