Abstract: In the context of the emerging communist regime and its anti-religious crusade in the post-war Czechoslovakia, the Croatian priest Stjepan Tomislav Poglajen, also known as Kolakovič, is a well-known personality in Slovakia. Although he was active in Slovakia only for a short time, his lay apostolate as well as his activities towards the establishment of the informal community Rodina (Family) left a lasting mark and influenced a significant part of young Catholics. On the other hand, however, it should be pointed out that he is perhaps one of the most mystified figures of the twentieth century, while incredibly little is known about his real life, especially in the post-war period. Adding to the mystification is the fact that it was a conscious part of Kolakovičʼs lifestyle after he left the Jesuit order in 1943. For a better understanding of the post-war fate of Tomislav Kolakovič, the archival sources from the Historical Archives of the Vatican Secretariat of State relating to the post-war pontificate of Pope Pius XII are therefore of great importance. The paper relies in principle on these archival sources, which are not only an interesting and relevant source (mostly reports of Vatican diplomats, nuncios, internuncios and apostolic delegates from the countries where Kolakovič stayed during his many foreign trips), but on the basis of these documents it is possible to reconstruct the post-war activities of the Croatian priest between 1946 and 1959 in considerable detail and thus to obtain a comprehensive and accurate portrait of his life.
