Abstrakt/ Abstract: Education is one of the basic indicators of women's status in society and also one of the means by which women have been able to enter professional and social life. The study examines contemporary views on girls' and women's education during the existence of the First Czechoslovak Republic. The intention is to outline what society's attitude to the issue was in the democratic conditions of the newly established state and to capture the changes that occurred in comparison with the previous period.
