Abstract: The paper is devoted to the theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of double exceptionality in education, which represents a specific group of pupils combining giftedness with the presence of special educational needs. These pupils face unique challenges in the school environment that require a sensitive, differentiated and inclusive pedagogical approach. The aim of this paper is a theoretical analysis of the issue of education of pupils with dual exceptionality, its diagnostic aspects, the specificity of the educational needs of these pupils and the importance of supporting their cognitive and emotional development. In this context, the potential of some pedagogical strategies, such as cooperative teaching, is outlined, which, if implemented appropriately, can support the social integration and self-realisation of pupils with double exceptionality within the conditions of Slovak schools.
