Abstrakt/Abstract: Environmental safety - both terms safety and environment belong to the most widely used terms in the social sciences. The 21st century is a period of rapid development of science and technology, progress, and prosperity of society. However, it is also a time with all kinds of problems. Environmental protection has become one of the most important issues of society. The production of clothes is a complicated process, involving many steps and causing a lot of environmental pollution. Keeping textile and clothing waste out of landfills should be a priority. It is necessary to move from a linear to a more circular system that gives value to recycled goods. The aim of the contribution is the analysis of the legislative and substantive framework of the current state of textile waste management in Slovakia. We will propose a method of recycling textile waste in the production of clothes from non-flammable materials and its use. Based on the information obtained, we will define the main shortcomings of the waste management system of the textile and clothing industry in Slovakia.
