Abstrakt/ Abstract: The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Rozhanovce is the village's oldest archi-tectural landmark. Despite its historical significance, no architectural or archaeological research has been conducted, so the historical narrative has relied on limited secondary sources. Drawing on original archival materials, particularly from the Archdiocesan Archive in Košice, this article reconstructs the development of the church. Evidence confirms the church’s existence as early as the 14th century and illustrates how it was transformed during the Reformation and the subsequent process of re-Catholicisation. A significant renovation was carried out in 1760, funded by Juditha Soós Kapy, and this has been mistakenly cited as the church's foundation. This study clarifies the church's architectural phases, ownership and liturgical furnishings, and examines its role in the religious and cultural history of the region. The findings challenge existing historical interpretations and emphasise the need for further research.
