Abstrakt/ Abstract:
The aim of the study was to examine the awareness of primary and secondary school teachers about the issue of substance and non-substance addictions and to identify their educational needs in this area. The research was conducted in the form of a questionnaire survey on a sample of 214 teachers, mostly women (80.8%), with an average age of 46.9 years and an average length of teaching experience of 20.2 years. The research was conducted using an online questionnaire.
The results showed that teachers are highly aware of the need for education in the area of addiction prevention, social and communication skills and risky behaviour on the Internet. They also consider the creation of online counselling platforms and access to comprehensive information to be important. On the contrary, they expressed a lower level of agreement in the areas of practical competencies, such as the ability to recognize a student under the influence of narcotics, or knowledge of subsequent procedures in dealing with these situations. They assessed preventive activities in schools as insufficient.
The findings also show that although teachers declare the need for education and support for preventive tools, they also perceive gaps in their practical skills. This highlights the need for systematic education and methodological support for teachers in the area of prevention of both substance and non-substance addictions.
