Abstrakt/ Abstract: The presented study examines the religious life of the Slovaks of Transcarpathia during the period when this region belonged to the Soviet Union (1945-1991), as remembered by the memorialists of that period. The Slovak minority in the Transcarpathia region of Ukraine predominantly belongs to the Roman Catholic Church, which was perceived as hostile to the Soviet political system. As a result, its activities were subjected to various restrictions by the state, which had a significant impact on the religious life of Slovaks. The study is based on materials collected by the authors during their field research in Transcarpathia in 2024 using the oral history method. The authors employ the concept of collective memory and attempt to determine what form of religious life in the Soviet Union period is stored in the collective memory of the Slovak minority. Considering the repressive way the Soviet Union approached the Roman Catholic Church, this period is viewed critically by the respondents. The Soviet state was unable to displace the significant influence of the Roman Catholic Church on the Slovak minority in the region.
