Abstrakt/ Abstract: The Franciscans came to Kremnica in 1649 to support the Catholic, mainly Slovak, population during the German religious administration of the mining towns. For three hundred years, until 1949, the Franciscan monastery on the square spread education, Franciscan formation and culture for the city. In the 20th century, Father Baptista Chládecký, a legend of the streets of Kremnica, stands out for his service to the deaf. This zealous priest was repeatedly praised by Father Bishop Baláž as a zealous and faithful priest of Christ. Through his daily service, he was able to perceive the needs of those who did not hear God's word. However, he always knew how to convey it to them in such a way that they could perceive it and feel it in their hearts. Unfortunately, nothing has been preserved from his writings, but according to oral testimonies, he knew how to approach religious topics even to school youth with suitable visual means. During the period of totalitarian oppression, the Franciscans and Father Baptista supported the formation of the future bishop Rudolf Baláž. He then supported the renewal of religious life in the territory of Banská Bystrica diocese. In July 2011, he returned to Kremnica and changed the title of the ancient parish to the Parish of St. Francis of Assisi. The Kremnica monastery remains an open spiritual and cultural question. Father Baptist's work was revived by God's direction after a few years, when other Franciscans began to devote themselves to the deaf in the Bratislava monastery.
