Abstrakt/ Abstract: The study deals with the work of the Franciscan Father Libor Jozef Mattoška (2 October 1891 Likavka, Ružomberok district + 30 August 1958 Ružomberok, buried in Spišská Teplica, Poprad district). Friar L. Mattoška was a prominent Slovak writer, editor, and social activist. He joined the Franciscan Order in 1906. From 1913 he published for the first time in Hungarian Franciscan magazines, but also in the secular press. After the establishment of Czechoslovakia, he became the founder and editor-in-chief of the journal of the Third Order of St. Francis Seraphim, Serafínsky svet (Seraphim's World) (1922 – 1943), in addition he founded and edited the journal Priateľ dietok (Friend of the Children) (1925 – 1948), which was the most successful journal for the school youth. Except of that, he wrote articles for the other newspapers and magazines. Friar Mattoška was a quality pubicist who influenced a significant part of the young Slovak Catholic generation. His activities were forcibly interrupted by the Communist regime in 1948.
