Abstrakt/ Abstract: This study with the title “From Slovakization to Concentration” addresses the topic of the history of the School Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis (OSF) in Slovakia in the period of 1919 – 1950. It presents a short introduction on the Franciscan movement and where the above-mentioned congregation fits in. The author provides an explanation about the beginnings of the presence of the School Sisters OSF in Slovakia in places such as: Mariánka, Ružomberok, Poprad, Liptovská Teplička, Lisková and Žilina. She also describes the political and religious background of the presented period in which the School Sisters OSF lived and worked in Slovakia and how these circumstances determined their lives. The study highlights the involvement of the sisters in their educational as well as extra-curricular activities among the people to whom they served and the fact to what extent they were incorporated in the lives of these people. The author emphasizes the Franciscan charism of the congregation and their mission of education. The concluding part of the study provides a description of the pressure put on the religious women in the period 1945 – 1950 by the Communist regime that was about to seize the total control of the government.
