Abstrakt/ Abstract: This publication analyzes the relations between the first Czechoslovak Republic as the state of the Czechs in the broad sense of the word and Subcarpathian Rus from the point of view of postcolonial studies. Within the methodological approach, both objects are perceived in the roles of metropolitan power and colony. This theoretical framework serves to test the criteria and signs of colonialism in objects relations. The aim of the work is insight into the possible concept and essence of Czech colonialism in Subcarpathian Rus in the interwar period, or revision of its previous interpretations. The output of the text is a model of the so-called Enlightenment colonialism, applicable to the relations between the historical Czech lands and Subcarpathian Rus. According to this model, the „colony”, which is in an unequal and dependent position in relation to the „metropolis“, at the same time receives opportunities and investments on the path of transformation into a more sovereign and self-sufficient political, social and cultural entity.
