Abstrakt/ Abstract: The study focuses on the history and development of harvest festivals in Slovakia, analyzing their transformation in the context of changing political and economic conditions. The introductory chapter provides an ethnological perspective on the symbolism, customs, and social interactions associated with these celebrations. The main emphasis is placed on the changes that the harvest festivals underwent during the 20th century, especially after February 1948. Special attention is given to the city of Nitra, where the festivals evolved from a regional event into a national occasion characterized by mass participation, theatrical allegorical parades, and a rich cultural program. The study also examines the ideological adaptation of the harvest festivals during socialism and their gradual decline. Through the analysis of this phenomenon, the study offers a deeper insight into the relationship between cultural traditions and political systems.
