Abstrakt/ Abstract: During the Second Vatican Council, the central question was how, amidst changing circumstances in the world, the Church sees itself and its place in the world. In the constitution Lumen gentium, it answered this question by defining itself as the People of God. The concept of the People of God returned to the Magisterium of the Church with Pope Francis. Over the past 60 years, the Church in Slovakia has paid only selective attention to the Council, but due to special circumstances, it has rich experience with the concept of the Church as the People of God in the spirit of Pope Francis. It is precisely this experience that is the most valuable legacy of the Second Vatican Council, which we in Slovakia have acquired more through spontaneous action than through conscious reflection.
