Abstrakt/ Abstract: This scientific article explores burnout syndrome in helping professionals, offering a profound psychoanalytic perspective on its aetiology, manifestations, and intervention possibilities. It analyzes the key dimensions of burnout – emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment – through the lens of psychoanalytic concepts such as the dynamics of the ego, id, and superego, defence mechanisms, the influence of early experiences and object relations, as well as the phenomena of transference and countertransference. The aim is to move beyond a descriptive understanding of the syndrome and to uncover the unconscious psychological processes that contribute to its onset and persistence in the context of demanding helping professions.
