Abstrakt/ Abstract: Burnout represents a consequence of a long-term imbalance between job demands and available resources, leading to physical and psychological exhaustion, loss of motivation, and a decline in professional performance. The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of job demands and resources on the level of burnout among teachers in Slovakia. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach through an online questionnaire that included items from the Burnout Assessment Tool and selected elements of the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model. The research sample consisted of 1,072 teachers from primary and secondary schools in Slovakia. The data were processed using descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The results indicate a relatively low overall level of burnout, with the highest risk observed in the dimension of exhaustion. Role conflict, workload, as well as emotional, psychological, and physical demands, and bureaucratic burden were identified as the most significant predictors of burnout. Conversely, teamwork, job satisfaction, role clarity, and mutual support in the workplace act as important protective factors. The findings confirm the theoretical assumptions of the Job Demands-Resources model, according to which high job demands increase the risk of burnout, while sufficient job resources serve as a preventive and protective factor.
