Abstrakt/ Abstract: The deliberations of the Second Vatican Council in the field of biblical studies unfolded in a rather dramatic manner. It was first necessary to reassess the resolution of biblical questions and the orientation of biblical scholarship in the first half of the twentieth century, while also taking into account the powerful biblical movement that had developed in Europe. The outcome of the conciliar workshops was a renewed conception of the Theology of Divine Revelation and Inspiration, together with a refinement of Historical-Critical methods in exegesis, which in turn yielded more balanced conclusions. The conciliar documents further accelerated the biblical movement and exerted a positive influence on the faithful, fostering a deeper engagement with Sacred Scripture and its interpretation. The decades following the Council were marked by significant documents issued both by the popes and by the Pontifical Biblical Commission. The concluding part of this study evaluates the reception of the biblical message in Slovakia and outlines the principal tasks of the biblical apostolate within this context.
